2019 has been exciting for Pilgrims Hospice Society.
Following the quiet campaigning of 2018, 2019 marked the Public Launch of the Home for Hospice campaign. The press coverage that followed our Media Launch and the kick off of social media and Pattison Outdoor supported advertising generated a swell of awareness.
Sorrentino’s Garlic Fest, presented by Qualico, put the spotlight on the Home for Hospice campaign throughout April culminating in a most memorable Garlic Stomp event presented by Mosaic Home Services, quickly followed by Big Garlic Night at all of Sorrentino’s Restaurant Group locations.
Amongst all the campaign activities, Pilgrims’ staff worked hard to facilitate the move to Pilgrims Hospice’s interim location AND rallied support for day-to-day hospice programs with the annual Hike for Pilgrims Hospice fundraising walk.
Roozen Family Hospice Centre Project status mid-2019:
- We crossed the halfway point in both our campaign timeline and fundraising with over $8 million of our $15 million goal raised.
- The existing building is now in the hands of Synergy Projects, our construction manager, with abatement and demolition happening over the next six weeks.
- Design work, furniture and equipment layout and collaboration with Alberta Health Services continues as we plan for the opening of the Roozen Family Hospice Centre in late 2020.
As we continue to build awareness of the plans to bring hospice care closer to home, we continue our fundraising with urgency, because, if there is one thing death teaches it’s that there is no time to waste.
