“Dave Williams (Aug 25, 1939 – Jan 28, 2019) was a dear friend of mine, and an inspiration to so many throughout his life. He spent a lot of time in his later years at Pilgrims Hospice, both giving and receiving encouragement, hospitality and friendship.
When Pilgrims Hospice Society announced their plans to build a new facility, I immediately thought of Dave, and how wonderful it would be if his legacy could be recognized through naming some part of this new building after him.
I think it would be a most fitting tribute to his memory,” Charles Rees, lifetime friend and colleague of Dave Williams
The Dave Williams Tribute Fund has been set up in partnership with Pilgrims Hospice Society to honour and memorialize Dave’s legacy of leadership in helping others and building community.
THE GOAL of the fund is to raise $250,000 in Dave’s honour, in support of Pilgrims Hospice Society’s Home for Hospice campaign to build Edmonton’s first free-standing residential community hospice.
IN RECOGNITION, a space within the new Roozen Family Hospice Centre will be named after Dave.
“As Dad’s disease progressed, Pilgrims’ Hospice Day Program was a bright light. There he was loved, recognized and cared for in a way that allowed him to be part of life, with others to the very end.
He believed in Pilgrims’ vision and, while he and our family did not get to say goodbye in the new hospice, we want to help build it so others can. The new hospice centre will offer people, and loved ones, the comfort they deserve.“
